Garnet var. Melanite – Ghom (IR)

In 2023, black garnets, known as melanites, were discovered in Iran. I believe this was the first discovery of this type in the country. I was able to acquire a few pieces, including this beautiful small specimen. It is a matrix specimen with hundreds of deep black garnets that have a very good luster. The crystal size varies between a few mm and about 2 cm.
