Galena, Calcite – Freiberg (GER)

The Freiberg district is one of the classic sites for ore minerals in Europe. In addition to silver, silver-bearing galena was mined in particular, which was an important supplier of silver. This specimen has hundreds of well-formed galena crystals on matrix. The crystals show a beautiful luster and a great contrast to the matrix. This quality is not often found anymore, a real classic.
