Baryte, Fluorite – Sauberg mine (GER)
Wow, what a huge baryte-cluster from the famous Sauberg mine in Germany, the type location for apatite – by the way.
The mine was operating until 1990, so all specimens are historic now. This specimen was part of an older collection; the label is glued to the backside. It consists mainly of crystallized baryte with some minor pyrite and a single fluorite on the specimen’s front side. Unfortunately the fluorite is not perfect. Specimens from the Sauberg mine are rarely available on the marked, especially such an exceptionally large one.
