The open pit is now flooded with water and named Unterer Knappensee from German 'Knappe' = mine worker or miner. This is an unusual and striking form for vivianite, sort of like a hedgehog all tucked in on itself. The specimen consists of radiating, intergrown blades. Good color, lustre and very interesting form make this a superb rare locality specimen
