The Tynagh mine in Cornwall was a significant mine that exploited a polymetallic ore deposit. This was only discovered in 1961 and mined between 1965 and 1982. The mine has therefore been closed for more than 40 years, making specimens from this site correspondingly rare. This specimen is a rich ore sample from the oxidation zone of the deposit. It consists mainly of malachite with azurite. Mimetite and cerrusite are also present in smaller quantities.
