Hematite, Strontianite – Cavradi (CH)

Cavradi gorge hematite specimens are among the most desired alpine mineral specimens. This specimen features fine hematite crystals with numerous, red rutile crystals on its surface. The association is classic. What is highly unusual, however, is the matrix of strontianite. Normally, the matrix is ugly granite rock, or perhaps a quartz matrix. This is the first piece I have owned with hematite on an strontianite spray. Great example of this classic material.
