Cuprite, Malachite – Rudabanya (HU)

Rudabanya is one of the most diverse mineral sites in Europe. Mining, mainly for copper minerals, has produced some classic mineral combinations. One of these, perhaps the best known, is malachite pseudomorphs after cuprite crystals. These are usually found on light brown limonite and therefore show a very good contrast. This specimen has several of these pseudomorphs up to a size of 1.4 cm. The piece comes from the collection of Königshofer & Jakely, Graz, the old label is included.
