The copper mines of Chessy are the type locality for the mineral azurite. As mining has been closed down since 1875, specimens of this mines are european classics.
The second important mineral, beside azurite, from Chessy is cuprite. Cuprites from this site are usually colored green by malachite. In comparison with the blue azurite, they form a very beautiful color combination and contrast.
This specimen is in very good condition.
